Norman became a Founder Member of Blackpool & Fylde SOCA in 1967 when he met up with Bill Woodhouse (Scorcher, Selene, Astute, Tudor and Toredo as a Telegraphist, 1949-1956) and Stan Perrett (Proteus and Satyr, as AB (SD) 1938-1947).
Norman was already a member of the Manchester Branch, but he had served with Bill in the Malta Flotilla between 1952 and 1954 on HMS Tudor.

to Blackpool.
As stated above, Bill was a Founder Member of Blackpool & Fylde Branch. When he 'bumped' into Norman (who was already a member of Manchester) in Blackpool, they thought that they should start a Blackpool Branch. They started meeting at the Newton Arms, then the Raikes and on to the Victory pub. In 1972 they decided to formally join the National Association and meet at the Comrades Club. Norman became Secretary and Bill became Chairman, the first time of many.
